Take heed; this is no morass of cinematic moments that at some point in time afforded me a bout of cheap titillation. We have here but four films, not chosen but rather thrust upon me. Their number is four for that is precisely how many films have inspired me thus; no top ten this. It is an odd mix that I present you with: a romantic comedy, a psychological horror film, an Italian gore flick, and a sci-fi epic. My aim in these pages is to explain to you why these four have touched me so deeply, and if possible to persuade you to see them for yourself. My loyalty to these films compels me to advertise them, so that others might join me in my praise. I leave you to make your own conclusions.
