The Angel's Tear

The Angel's Tear is the premiere goth and metal nightclub in the town. Little known to it's clientele, the club gets its name from a story by Ambrose Bierce, and not (as many assume) from Angel Park. It is located just out of the city centre, in what used to be a warehouse. The owners of the club were initially interested in converting an old church into a club, but there was to be too much hassle from both the district council and local residents, and the maintenance costs would have been much higher anyway. All in all, the warehouse turned out to be a better deal for all concerned.

The club is split into three main rooms: goth, metal, and indie. The goth room is characterised by 80's alternative disco music and some punk and moody looking youngsters in black with frills and heavy makeup doing the goth two-step (DJ's: Ione, Terror). The metal room thumps to the beat of heavy metal and a little bit of rock and some punk and is filled with long haired greasy looking black t-shirt wearing metallers moshing to the bass (DJ's: Dave Kant, Rahab). The indie floor plays rock and indie music and a bit of punk to the taste of the baggy shorts and chain wearing indie kids doing their bouncey dance thing (DJ's: Fat Eric, James Lee).

The metal room has a large stage on which the DJ works, but it is also used for bands who come and play in the region. Previous visiting artists include Terrorvision, Therapy?, Coal Chamber, Human Waste Project, the Misfits, and Incubus Succubus. In an effort to promote the music scene in the area, local groups play here for free.
